Position: Volunteer Pastoral Care Coordinator

Location: The Boathouse/Hybrid home working, Life Church Southampton

Hours: Part-time. 4-8 Hours per week (flexible)

Role Summary

The Volunteer Pastoral Care Coordinator will support the Pastoral Care Leaders by providing essential administrative skills to enhance the pastoral care services at Life Church Southampton. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our pastoral care efforts, allowing the Pastoral Care Leaders to focus on providing oversight of practical, spiritual and emotional support to our congregation and beyond.

 

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support: Assist the Pastoral Care Leaders with various administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and maintaining accurate records of pastoral care activities.

Communication: Serve as a point of contact for pastoral care enquiries, ensuring timely and compassionate responses to those seeking support.

Coordination: Help organize and coordinate pastoral care activities, including visits, phone calls, and follow-ups, ensuring all actions are logged and tracked appropriately.

Records Management: Maintain and update the pastoral care database, ensuring all information is GDPR compliant, current and accessible to the Pastoral Care Leaders.

Resource Management: Assist in preparing and distributing pastoral care resources, such as literature, care packages, and other materials as needed.

Volunteer Support: Work alongside other pastoral care volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the effectiveness of the pastoral care group.

Event Planning: Assist in planning and organizing pastoral care events and meetings, including logistical arrangements and communication with participants.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Strong Administrative Skills: Proven experience in administrative roles, with excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.

Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and compassion.

Proficiency in Google Software: Competent in using GDPR compliant software and database management systems.

Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastoral Care Leaders and other volunteers.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

Empathy and Compassion: A heart for pastoral care and the gifting to offer empathy and support to those in need.

Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.

Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the pastoral care group and the church community.

 

Reporting Line

The Volunteer Pastoral Care Coordinator will report directly to the Pastoral Care Leaders at Life Church Southampton.
