Testimony is powerful. When I hear what God is doing in your life, how you got to where you are now, I’m encouraged. My faith and expectation rises for God to move in my life and those around me, as I hear your stories.
Whether they are stories of being held by God through struggles, or miraculous answered prayer, stories of faith are always encouraging.
At our Testimonies Sunday I shared how I’m lucky to have plenty of free time at the moment. I’m thankful to God for the privilege of having choice as to how I spend my time, but I have to admit that I don’t find it easy. I like to be busy, to rush from one thing to another, I like to have a sense of purpose and direction, of being useful. I want clear strategy and direction when God says wait and listen.
I went to Commission Festival this year asking God to speak, to help me find a clearer sense of where I should be focussing my energies. He didn’t answer my prayer, not in the way that I expected, but I did meet with God in a powerful way at Commission Festival. In the response time I found myself once again unravelled by the presence of God, laying everything down at His feet again, because he is worth it all, whatever the cost.
I didn’t get the clear sense of direction that I was asking for, but he did speak about one role, and I know that life with Jesus is not a sprint towards a goal, but more a slow steady journey where we get to walk each step with him. I’m interested in activity and role, he is more interested in character and humility!
Part of saying yes to God in this season means that I am now working four days a week in the church office. I run the Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre, and it’s great to have more time to be available for CAP clients as well as supporting social action initiatives and looking after office volunteers.
I heard someone describe our Testimony Sunday as ‘ a unifying experience’. It really was! It was powerful to hear stories of answered prayer, financial provision, jobs, encounters with God and different peoples journeys to Life Church. It was also really powerful to hear from family members that are in the midst of struggles, and walking with Jesus through them. If you have a testimony to share, please do share it using this link. Your story is a part in the story of Life Church and there is real value in sharing it with others.
